Temps Universal Coordinat (working title)

Outline

Temps Universal Coordinat (working title) is a curatorial project that aims to reflect themes relating to time perception. It will explore those strategies and conventions that regulate the social construction of time, as well as those experiences that, in opposition, make time a personal and subjective experience.

The project will bring together artworks, references and documentation that deal with the relation between time and issues such as, the notion of productivity, the social conventions of time measurement, time recording devices and the distinction between working and leisure time, amongst other topics. It will also feature projects and works that present time perception as a personal and non-transferable process, establishing relations between timing and identity, memory and aging.

Formalization

The project will be formalized by a time structure, rather than as an exhibition in a specific space. Possible formats will be explored during the research process of CuratorLab, but the initial idea is to present the project through a series of curatorial performative conferences for small groups of people. Narration will be the principal tool for exposing the curatorial topic, but other forms of presentation will also be incorporated into the discourse, such as video projections, life interviews, small exhibitions, readings and site-specific visits. These curatorial performances could take place in different venues, even in different cities. They will last between two and four hours each approximately, and could involve some sort of collective meal as well.
